In 2006 Shawn Lemke started Beach Groundworks, Inc. The Beach Groundwork’s team consists of Shawn Lemke, his wife Ashley Mashaw Lemke, Jeremiah Townley and Dan Mashaw.  Using their 20 years of combined experience in landscape and hardscape design the Beach Groundwork’s team has an envied reputation for being detail oriented and exceeding customer expectations.

All team members are certified in NCMA (National Concrete and Masonry Association) for segmental retaining wall installation and ICPI (Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute) as well as Certified Specialists for the installation of CAST and Vista Professional Outdoor Lighting. We are also a fully authorized Belgard Contractor. It is important to us to pass on a clean and healthy bay to our children.

Beach Groundworks is proud to work closely with our local municipalities to promote the CBPA (Chesapeake Bay Preservation Association) in order to conserve the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

After attending Old Dominion University, Shawn began his career in landscape and hardscape design. Starting in 2000 he quickly learned what it would take to set himself apart in order to run a successful business. Hard work came naturally. Learning from other experts in the industry on what to do and what not to do has given Shawn the basis for the success of Beach Groundworks.

Jeremiah brings exceptional plant knowledge to Beach Groundwork’s based on his experience in greenhouse management and a degree from Virginia Tech in Horticulture.  While attaining his bachelors in 2008 he worked with a variety of companies in greenhouse management and landscape maintenance.  Since graduation he has become the head site leader for design realization on dozens of highly successful projects.

Each year we have been honored with several awards including the American Horticultural Society Environmental Award and the Award for Excellence for a Landscape Display as well as People’s Choice for Best Landscape Design and the American Horticultural Society Award for Environmental Stewardship and Skilled Craftsmanship in Design.
